Birding Tours – KwaZulu – Natal has over 650 recorded species of birds, with the KZN Midlands offering some truly amazing & picturesque birding destinations.

Highmoor & Kamberg Nature Reserve – are situated in the central region of the Maloti-Drakensberg Park, South Africa’s first cultural and environmental World Heritage Site. This magnificent destination is renowned for its excellent trout dams, scenic views, soaring basaltic buttresses, golden sandstone ramparts, rock pools, rolling high-altitude grasslands, steep-sided river valleys and rocky gorges.
The surrounding landscape is rich in San (or Bushmen) history, with San raiding parties using the hills and valleys to hide cattle taken from settlers who had appropriated their land to the point where the San were no longer able to sustain themselves through their traditional hunter-gatherer lifestyle.
Karkloof Canopy Tours – Based in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, the Karkloof Canopy Tour has been built in a spectacular valley of the mistbelt podacarpus Karkloof Forest Reserve. The platforms are built high up in the forest canopy and all offer different views of the surrounding forest, a magnificent 20m waterfall, clear sparkling forest stream and across the expansive Karkloof valley far below.
The Karkloof Canopy Tour consists of 12 platforms and 10 zip-line slides, the longest of which is 200m! A tour lasts approximately two hours, this is a safe, fun adventure for people between the ages of 6 and 80+ and includes refreshments during the tour.
