Situated in Balgowan, KZN Midlands, Swissland is all about fantastic cheeses made with fresh igredients. Some traditional methods are retained, while innovative flavours and combinations are part of the excitement of visiting.
The healthy herd of goats roam on the high hills, producing cheeses that have won awards for incredible taste and quality.
Some of their delicious cheeses include:
Drakensberg: Ash-coated, white mould cheese. Can be enjoyed fresh or allowed to mature. Great for cooking and in salads.
Chevre: Smoked/ash coated, plain, herb and peppered flavors. Chevre is a fresh goats cheese, that should be eaten within three weeks.
Cream Cheese: Light, smooth and spreadable. Freshest form of our goats cheese range. Great for dessert’s like Cheese cake or used as a base to a dip.
Pecorino: Matured from 6 months to a year keeping its creaminess. Firm, hard, piquant with a nutty, sweet flavor. Great in pasta.
Isinyani: Comes in a smoked or plain version. Extremely creamy but solid cheese. Delicious on top of Pizza.
